Commercial Crew Program

The Commercial Crew Program is an initiative developed by NASA to facilitate the transportation of astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS) using privately developed spacecraft. Launched to encourage the growth of the commercial space industry, the program aims to reduce reliance on governmental capabilities and promote partnerships with private companies. It includes rigorous safety and performance standards that companies must meet to ensure crewed missions are conducted safely. Under this program, NASA has contracted with various companies, such as SpaceX and Boeing, to develop spacecraft that are capable of carrying astronauts, thereby enabling a new era of commercial spaceflight and enhancing the U.S. presence in low Earth orbit.
