Neptune
Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in our solar system. It is classified as an icy giant and is known for its striking blue color, which is a result of the absorption of red light by methane in its atmosphere. Neptune has the most violent weather in the solar system, with strong winds and storms, including the Great Dark Spot, a massive storm similar to Jupiter's Great Red Spot. The planet has a diameter of about 49,244 kilometers (30,598 miles) and possesses a faint ring system and 14 known moons, with Triton being the largest. Discovered in 1846, Neptune is named after the Roman god of the sea, reflecting its deep blue appearance. Its atmosphere consists mainly of hydrogen, helium, and methane, contributing to its dynamic weather patterns. Neptune is located approximately 4.5 billion kilometers (about 2.8 billion miles) from the Sun and has an orbital period of about 165 Earth years.
